About Anti-Ragging Committee (ARC) and Flying Squad
Kabi Jagadram Roy Government General Degree College, Mejia, Bankura-722143, established in 2015, upholds zero tolerance for ragging and prohibits ragging in all its forms within the campus. This institution is committed to creating a safe, ragging-free environment for students through the creation of awareness on the issue of ragging by generating awareness among the students through displaying posters and banners within the campus, organizing awareness campaigns, and conducting vigilance and patrolling functions of the Anti-Ragging Flying Squad on a regular basis. Ragging in all its forms is totally banned in the entire institution, including the departments, constituent units, all its premises located inside and outside the campus, and in all means of transportation of students, whether public or private. The institute is determined to take strict action against the report of ragging (those found guilty of ragging and/or abetting ragging).
In pursuance of the UGC Regulation on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Institutions, 2009 and the notifications issued by the Dept. of Higher Science & Technology and Biotechnology, Govt. of West Bengal, an Anti-Ragging Committee along with a ‘Flying Squad’ was constituted in Kabi Jagadram Roy Government General Degree College on 28/05/2019 [vide Office Memo No. 048/05 19/0ff-Ord./Anti-Ragging-Comm.] to prevent incidents of ragging and look into complaints of ragging in this educational institution. The Anti-Ragging Committee and the ‘Flying Squad’ were reconstituted on 12/03/2020 [vide Office Memo No. 041/0320/Off.-Ord.(Rev.)/Anti-Ragging-Committee] and on 22/08/2023 [vide Office Memo No. 013/Anti-Ragging (Rev.)/College].
Objective of the Anti-Ragging Committee:
- ARC aims to fulfill the directives of the Honourable Supreme Court of India and concerns expressed by the University Grants Commission (UGC) about ensuring a safe and overall disciplined environment in the College.
- ARC aspires to make the students aware of the brutalizing effect of ragging inherent in its perversity.
- ARC intends to sensitize students about the evils of ragging and its prevention in the College campus by organizing talks/awareness programs, postering/campaigning, etc.
- ARC and Flying Squad will monitor, avoid, and prohibit ragging to prevent its occurrence and recurrence.
- ARC shall comply with the procedure prescribed in the aforementioned UGC Regulations 2009, 2011 and the guidelines issued by the Higher Education Department, Govt. of W.B. for inquiring into the complaint in a time-bound manner by taking quick and strict actions against the incidents of ragging.
